About Arianna Gillespie
With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In McHenry, volunteers are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like local toddler, Arianna Gillespie.
Arianna is the daughter of Brandon and Anetta Gillespie. Born on March 08, 2012, Arianna was diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure as well as Pancytopenia and Hypocellular Bone Marrow Consistent with Aplastic Anemia. The doctors at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, performed a life-saving liver transplant August 06, 2013. An estimated $50,000 is being raised by McHenry volunteers.
